Many of us use Amazon to purchase items because of sheer convenience. It’s really something to click twice and have that desired item appear on your doorstep the next day. And Amazon offers an increasing array of reliable food items, including plant-based pantry food staples. Amazon is currently partnering with Whole Foods, meaning you can get even more types of foods and groceries delivered from one of your favorite stores to your doorstep. While Amazon only delivers fresh groceries to specific locations at this point, it will be interesting to see how its grocery delivery system evolves in the future. In the meantime, you can find dependable shelf stable items every day on Amazon. That’s why I’m sharing my personal best Amazon finds in this collection of Top 15 Amazon Vegan Grocery List Staples. I’m including a variety of plant-based Amazon best sellers that I try to stock in my own kitchen.

Sustainability of Amazon

What is Amazon doing to be sustainable? Amazon currently has a corporate sustainability pledge you can read about here. One of the strategies Amazon uses includes investing in renewable energy. Amazon claims that in 2022, 90% of the energy they used was from renewable sources. They also try to utilize electric vehicles, e-bikes, and on-foot deliveries.

Certifications available at Amazon

How can you make more sustainable choices when using Amazon for purchasing? Try reducing the number of trips and packaging materials used when ordering things from Amazon. Amazon gives you an option when you are checking out and have multiple orders on the way to combine packaging and reduce the required trips. Amazon has partnered with third parties to create its label and Climate Pledge Friendly products. These products have a green label next to them when you click to expand the product (see below).

Look for the climate pledge friendly icon when shopping on Amazon.

Amazon has also made strides to make groceries available to those of lower socioeconomic status. In most states, you can purchase groceries with SNAP and EBT benefits, even if you don’t have an Amazon membership.

Top 15 Amazon Vegan Grocery List Staples

1. Vegetable Broth Base

I really love this vegan Better than Bouillon Broth Base, which comes in a few different flavors. I use this broth base to make broth by combining it with water (1 teaspoon of base + 1 cup water = 1 cup broth). Which means fewer large containers of broth filling up my pantry, and less shipping required. Use it in soups, beans, grains, sauces, casseroles, and stews. The perfect pantry food from Amazon, because you don’t need to refrigerate it until after opening. Try this recipe for Carnival Squash Soup using this product here.

This unsweetened plant-based milk is shelf-stable until it is opened, so it is a great option for stocking in your pantry.
