Plant-Based Diet Protects Planet
The science continues to confirm that eating a plant-powered diet is one of the most powerful things you can do to help reduce your carbon footprint. And a new study found that eating a plant-based diet has the potential to significantly reduce annual personal greenhouse gas emissions, which contribute to climate change, researchers say. When scientists considered individual lifestyle choices based on 148 scenarios from 39 sources, four were selected as applicable and high impact, or low emission-causing. They determined that having only one child, living car-free, avoiding air travel, and eating a plant-based diet have much greater potential than common practices like recycling and using energy efficient light bulbs. Such behavioral strategies can cause more immediate emission reduction and change compared with larger level national policies, which can take decades.
