Their name, Toosum, is a play on the word “toothsome,” which means “temptingly tasty and delicious”. Toosum’s delicious 100-calorie nutrition bars are made with nutrient-dense (and certified gluten-free) rolled oats and other delicious ingredients straight from nature. But what’s even better is that Toosum is part of KUTOA, an organization dedicated to feed children in need. For each bar they sell, they feed children in local communities and around the world. How does KUTOA help food children around the world? Are there specific examples of how this is working?
We donate a meal to a child in need for every bar we sell. We participate in the World Food Program (wfpusa.org), Foundation Communities and Covenant House.
Has this concept resonated with consumers? Why do you think that is?
Yes, very definitely. Most consumers want to give back to their community or others they care about. KUTOA is not simply another faceless corporation exploiting the masses. Rather, we are a company that makes profits, but shares those profits with children in need. Many consumers can relate to this cause and feel good about buying KUTOA bars.
Do you think that other companies need to become more socially conscious, and how can they go about doing that?
I can only speak for KUTOA and Toosum Healthy Foods, but we will continue to be socially conscious. We hope to find additional outlets to provide meals to children in need. As we grow our sales, our contributions will also increase.
On top of helping people, what is healthy about these bars?
All of our health bars are Gluten-Free, Non-GMO, Vegan, Dairy Free, and all-natural. We do not add sugar or preservatives to any of our bars. They also have protein and fiber to keep you satiated longer.
What kind of feedback do you get from people on what they like about the bars?
KUTOA customers are extremely loyal. They continue to re-purchase our bars not only because they are delicious-tasting, but also our customers know that they are healthy for their bodies and they are helping a child in need of food.
What is in the future for KUTOA?
We will continue to expand our distribution not only in the U.S. but also globally. We will also develop new products and enter new snack segments, but always with a focus on gluten-free, non-GMO and delicious tasting!
