I’ve had a lot of amazing movers and shakers in the plant-based world on my blog. It’s been one of the most rewarding, fun parts of what I do! I just love learning about all of the inspiring ways that these leaders are helping people to find a healthy, delicious, nutritious, sustainable diet. So, I took a trip down memory lane and read through all of my amazing interviews and stories, and picked out five of my favorites to share with you. That’s not to say that all of my interviews haven’t been fascinating. Please come by my blog every Wednesday to see who is stopping by next!

 

Kathy Freston 

Kathy Freston is a bestselling author and health and wellness activist. She is the New York Times bestselling author of The Lean, Veganist, and Quantum Wellness. A media favorite, Kathy has appeared frequently on national television, including Ellen, The Dr.Oz Show, Charlie Rose, Good Morning America, The Talk, The Martha Stewart Show, Extra and Oprah. In THE LEAN, Kathy has people leaning into more plant-based foods, which are filled with satiating fiber, and away from animal foods, which are loaded with saturated fat and cholesterol.

Gene Baur, Founder of Farm Sanctuary

Gene Baur is co-founder and president of Farm Sanctuary, America’s leading farm animal protection organization. Gene Baur has been hailed as “the conscience of the food movement” by TIME magazine. For 25 years he has traveled extensively, campaigning to raise awareness about the abuses of industrialized factory farming and our cheap food system. Gene’s latest book, published by Rodale, Living the Farm Sanctuary Life: The Ultimate Guide to Eating Mindfully, Living Longer, and Feeling Better Every Day, is available for sale April 2015. His previous bestseller, Farm Sanctuary: Changing Hearts and Minds About Animals and Food, was published by Touchstone in March 2008.

 

Dr. Caldwell B. Esselstyn

Dr. Esselstyn is one of the leading movers and shakers in the plant-based world. He studied at Yale and received his medical degree at Western Reserve University. Dr. Esselstyn was trained as a surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic and at St. George’s Hospital in London. He has been associated with the Cleveland Clinic since 1968. During that time, he served as President of the Staff and as a member of the Board of Governors. He chaired the Clinic’s Breast Cancer Task Force and headed its Section of Thyroid and Parathyroid Surgery. In 1995 Dr. Esselstyn published his benchmark, long-term nutritional research documenting how he arrested and reversed coronary artery disease in severely ill patients with plant-based diet strategies. This information is provided in his book Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease.

 

Chef Tal Ronnen, Crossroads

Tal Ronnen is the founder and chef of the amazing plant-based, LA restaurant Crossroads, and author of the New York Times bestseller The Conscious Cook and his cookbook Crossroads. Tal is known nationwide as the chef who prepared the meals for Oprah Winfrey’s 21-day vegan cleanse. A graduate of the Natural Gourmet Institute, Tal is also the co-creator of Kite Hill Cheese, the first nondairy cheese sold at the high-end cheese counter at Whole Foods, and a collaborating chef at the Wynn and Encore hotels in Las Vegas.
