Description

This pomegranate mandarin sauce is a sweet-tart, naturally sweetened recipe made with pomegranate juice, fresh citrus, maple syrup, and cardamom. A healthy, easy vegan sauce perfect for savory dishes, desserts, and holiday meals.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups pomegranate seeds (about 1 large pomegranate), may use frozen if desired
  • 1 large mandarin orange, juice and zest
  • 1 ½ teaspoons pure maple syrup
  • ½ teaspoon cardamom
  • 1 ½ tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 large pomegranate, seeded


Instructions

  1. Whisk together pomegranate juice, mandarin orange juice, maple syrup (optional), cardamom, and cornstarch together in a small saucepan.
  2. Heat over medium until bubbly and thickened.
  3. Stir in mandarin orange zest and pomegranate seeds (arils) and chill until serving time.
  4. Serve immediately with savory dishes or plant-based ice cream or sorbet.
