Description

Learn how to make a batch of pear sauce with these simple steps.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 fresh medium pears, peeled, cored, chopped into chunks
  • 1 small lemon, juiced
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ cup water

Instructions

  1. Place chopped pears in a saucepan with lemon juice, cinnamon and water.  Stir to distribute ingredients, cover with a lid and cook for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  2. Using an immersion blender (or transfer pears to a blender), blend cooked pears until you reach desired consistency.
  3. Cool and serve immediately. Or transfer to an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for 1 week, or freezer up to 6 months.

Notes

Use the same recipe for applesauce, using apples instead of pears.

Pear Sauce Serving Suggestions:

Sprinkle with cinnamon or granola, stir into oatmeal or cereal, enjoy as a spread with peanut butter on toast, or add to desserts, such as pastries and bars.

This pear sauce is excellent used as a sweetener to replace or reduce sugar in baked goods, such as pancakes, muffins, and bars.
