Description

Make a classic, plant-based Swedish style split pea soup even more healthful by sprouting the peas first. With only 8 ingredients, this recipe is perfect for a slow cooker or Instant Pot.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups dry split peas, soaked and germinated
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 cube reduced sodium vegetable bullion
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 teaspoon marjoram
  • ½ teaspoon white pepper
  • ½ teaspoon dry mustard
  • ½ teaspoon celery salt
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Optional:

  • Pinch kosher salt

Instructions

  1. Place all ingredients in a large pot and cover.  Bring to a boil and reduce heat to medium.  Cook for about 1 ½ hours until thickened and tender.

Notes

Instant Pot Directions: Place all ingredients in the container of the Instant Pot. Press “Bean/Chili” setting. Cook according to manufacturer’s directions. Serve immediately.

Slow cooker Directions: Place all ingredients in the container of the Slow cooker. Cook on high for 4-6 hours or on low for 8-12 hours. Cook according to manufacturer’s directions. Serve immediately.
